Symbiosis business district’s main square built with Geoplast foundation solutions, Milan, Italy
Symbiosis is a new development project for the transformation and requalification of a historical industrial area at the very heart of Milan through the construction of a new Business district, with a surface of 125.000 square meters of GLA, structures with high technological profile and maximum sustainability. Taking place on an enormous site, different components of Symbiosis will be launched gradually to keep pace with the market. The 1st phase of the program, 19,000 m² pre-let to Fastweb, has been launched in 2015 for a delivery planned in 2018.
Located across from the Fondazione Prada, close to Bocconi University and Parco Sud in a booming district, the Symbiosis project’s aim is to become a showcase for high-performance office concepts. Ideally, in tune with innovative companies looking for green buildings, Symbiosis offers flexible spaces to foster smart working and co-working.
Symbiosis is intended to be an innovative model of a building, combining productivity and well-being while featuring the latest technologies in all areas and sectors. The area as a whole is primarily a place where people work, but it also offers a multitude of services that will transform it into a new place of interest. The entire area is completely connected at all times via Wi-Fi - there are recharging stations for smartphones and tablets, and the area is lit up with energy-saving lights and features pedestrian paths with LED lights and new generation benches with multimedia connections for a smart working lifestyle.
The project is also part of the Sharing Cities initiative funded by the EU’s Horizon 2020 programme, which aims to identify integrated solutions to turn smart cities into reality. It has obtained the Gold Core & Shell Leed certification thanks to a series of requirements including energy saving in buildings, 50% of which are met by internal renewable sources (the remaining 50% come from green certified sources), 90% recycling of construction waste and 95% sourcing of local building materials.
Geoplast’s Modulo and Multimodulo, permanent crawl pace formworks, and New Elevetor, permanent crawl space formwork up to 3 m, were chosen to elevate the surface of the District’s main square, which will be called “Piazza delle Arti“. The various heights of our products allowed to create a space with different slopes and a very scenographic and pleasant effect. The total covered area is 5000 sqm.
Geoplast Foundations Solutions perfectly lent themselves to this project, since they offer several advantages:
* Adaptability to any situation, thanks to the wide range of heights, sizes, and accessories;
* Easy and fast installation, due to their lightness and modularity;
* Stackability, which guarantees unmatched logistical advantages when transporting and storing
